Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and laugh...

So, I'm rushing like crazy to get out the door with both kids. They have exams and I have a 9am appt. Everything seems to be going wrong - I'm a little (lot) stressed as I'm rushing around trying to put my mascara on with one hand and texting a message my assistant, Jen with the other. Finally- we get out the door. The kids are arguing who will sit in the front. I'm thinking about the waivers I need to print before the home inspection tonight. Devon loses the battle and retreats to the back seat and then decides to sing Beyonce. Yeah, he likes to annoy me. Anyway, we get to the school and he's done a great job of annoying me as he gets out of the car he makes one last smart-a$$ remark and then my daughter looks at me, smiles sweetly and says "just ignore him". I wonder where she has heardthat before! LOL

I dropped them off ... And laughed all the way to my appointment.

Winter Driving Tips

Anyone that knows me knows that I don't have the best luck with cars.  From rear-ending cars in drive through lines, bumping into cop cars and driving the wrong way on one-way streets ... I've just about done it all.  Add some snow, sleet and ice and ...yeah, not fun!!

The roads are icy today ... be careful if you're driving around.

Here are some Winter Driving Tips.

Have a great day & stay warm!!

You had convinced yourself it was not going to happen didn't you? You anticipated it to come blasting in before the holiday season, but It was a green Christmas.

The longer it waited, the more you confident you felt it was going to pass you by, but you live in Southwestern Ontario so deep down inside you had to know it was coming . . . . and then just when you let your guard down for a minute WINTER came raging in!

Safe driving is always important, but being on the road during winter requires extra precautions. Here are some tips to stay safe in winter weather conditions.

  • Snow Tires will help avoid the winter slip ‘n’ slide: To ensure your vehicle is ready for our changing winter weather, it is recommended you switch your all-season tires to winter ones before the temperature drops below 7°C. Winter tires optimize the performance and safety of winter driving.
  • Defrost your windows well: Neglecting to defrost your windows might get you to your destination faster, but it’s a dangerous habit. Plan for a few extra minutes to clean all of your car’s windows well. And don’t forget the top of your vehicle. I am usually behind the mini van that does not clear the top of their vehicle and am suddenly blinded by the snow that comes from their roof on to my windshield.
  • Winterize your roadside safety kit: Keeping a roadside safety kit in your trunk year-round is a good idea, (see our earlier blog regarding this) but winter driving conditions require extra safety equipment. Make sure your vehicle is equipped with items like a scraper for the windshield, a small shovel, a sandbag, candles, and warm clothing like gloves and a hat. You always have to be ready for whatever bad weather Old Man Winter throws at you this season.
  • Top up your fluids! Make sure you always keep your gas tank at least half full. On very cold days, the condensation in the tank can freeze and cause problems. Also, don’t forget about your windshield-washer fluid!
  • Pump up your tires! Did you know that for every 5°C drop in temperature, tires lose one pound of air pressure. To ensure optimum fuel efficiency and prevent irregular or premature wear, tire inflation should be checked monthly.
  • Take a cell phone! For long trips, don’t forget to take a cellphone in case you need to call for help. Remember to pull over to the side of the road and stop your vehicle before making the call.
